Many of our most devoted fans have likely seen this coming. To say we have been in the midst of a creative crisis is an understatement; our musical direction has become increasingly commercialized and trite. I consistently have problems with Lauren and Daniel, as they do not take our work seriously. Being in a musical group should involve no fun and games, and recent songwriting attempts have come off as humor, which has no place in music whatsoever. To say I am misunderstood as an artist is inaccurate; more truthfully, no one has taken the time to even attempt to understand my artistic genius. Not a single song of mine (and they are my songs, exclusively) has been adequately analyzed and written about. Additionally, our bi-hourly practices have become less and less productive, with fewer and fewer returns. And we still haven't even been on tour. My distaste with the direction of the band is only overpowered by my most disagreeable relationship with Ellie’s cat. Prior to last month’s incident, it was already evident that she had made every attempt to sabotage our artistic endeavors; in light of recent events, it has become abundantly clear that this beast lacks any base morality, possessing only narcissistic self-interest and absolutely no capacity for love. This came to a head with the vandalism of all of our merch from the recent successful European tour. It seems, in this way, all has been left tattered, a ghost of what Royal Fish once was.
I knew it was impossible for us to go on when Emily wouldn't let me put the amps underwater for the Japan tour. She just wasn't willing to go the extra mile that Dan and I were. I need to work with someone more creative, more open-minded, and honestly more skilled.
